Lauderdale County Couple Accused of Corpse Abuse in Death Inquiry

In Lauderdale County, a man and a woman face charges of corpse abuse amid an ongoing investigation into the death of a 60-year-old woman.
Sheriff Joe Hamilton reported that the charges follow a death notification received on Wednesday. Deputies were alerted to a woman’s death at a residence on Betsy Ross Lane in Florence.
Hamilton disclosed that investigators found the deceased woman's body had been moved around the property before authorities were informed. The woman had been dead for approximately five to seven hours before the incident was reported.
“Currently, there is no evidence to suggest foul play in the manner of death; however, the body has been sent for an autopsy. The investigation remains active,” stated Hamilton.
Jennifer Patricia McCain and Justin Davis McCain have been charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence. Additionally, Jennifer McCain faces a charge of drug paraphernalia possession.
