Jimmy Carter Aims to Reach 100 to Vote for Kamala Harris, Family Reveals
Jimmy Carter, nearing his 100th birthday, is determined to vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election. A special concert will honor his legacy, and he plans to vote early in Georgia.
As Jimmy Carter nears his 100th birthday, his family shares that his main goal is to celebrate this milestone and cast his vote for Kamala Harris in the upcoming presidential election. With just two months to go before his centenary on October 1, Carter's grandson revealed that the former president is focused on reaching this significant age to participate in the November vote.
To honor Carter's remarkable life and service, a special concert has been scheduled for September 17 in Atlanta. The event, organized by the Carter Center, will feature performances by artists like Maren Morris, Eric Church, and The War and Treaty, celebrating Carter's enduring legacy.
However, Carter's attention is squarely on the political arena. His grandson Jason disclosed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Carter has been particularly energized by Vice President Harris’s official challenge against former President Donald Trump.
Carter, who entered hospice care in early 2023, has shown renewed interest in politics since Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee following President Biden’s withdrawal from the race. Despite his frail condition, Carter’s political engagement remains strong.
Georgia’s early voting period starts on October 15, just two weeks after Carter's 100th birthday, allowing him the opportunity to vote for Harris before Election Day on November 5. Absentee ballots will be sent out as early as 29 days before the election.
Even though Carter has faced physical challenges over the past year, including the loss of his wife, Rosalynn, in November, Jason reassured that Carter’s spirit remains resilient. The former president, who made history by appointing the first Black woman to the U.S. Cabinet, is witnessing another historical moment with Harris's candidacy as the first female VP and a nominee for the presidency.
