Investigation Launched After Man Found Shot Dead in West Birmingham
A man was found shot to death in west Birmingham on Wednesday morning, marking the city’s 108th homicide this year. Authorities are investigating, and anyone with information is urged to contact Birmingham detectives.
A man was found shot to death in west Birmingham on Wednesday morning, prompting an ongoing investigation.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on Avenue F. West Precinct officers responded to a report of a person lying on the ground. When they arrived, they found the man unresponsive. Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service arrived shortly after and confirmed that the man was dead.
At first, the cause of death was unclear, but once the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office arrived, they discovered that the man had been shot.
Authorities have not yet identified the victim. This marks Birmingham's 108th homicide in 2024. Out of these cases, eight were justified, and two others happened in previous years, with the victims passing away in 2024.
In total, Jefferson County has seen 135 homicides this year, including the 108 in Birmingham.
