The famous actor, who has a severe snake phobia, encountered his biggest nightmare head-on, and it did not turn out well. While trying to film a pivotal sequence for Episode 3 in Thailand, Goggins was bitten by a snake. He was not gravely hurt, and the snake was not poisonous, but the psychological damage was a different matter. Goggins recalled the terrifying encounter on Jimmy Kimmel Live! calling it nothing less than "horrific." Goggins acknowledged his ingrained dread of snakes, saying, "I do not just have a phobia—it is like a missing link in my DNA." In fact, he was so overcome that he broke down in tears the first time he touched a snake for filming. But he forced himself to confront his dread, determined to go through. According to the scene, Goggins was supposed to free the captive snakes, but as soon as he reached into the cage, the snake bit him! His response? To put it mildly, that was not the calm, collected moment he had planned for. "I wish I could have said, 'Yeah, it was just a snake bite, no big deal,'" Goggins jokingly said.
