Human Skull Found in East Birmingham; Investigation Underway
Human skull found in East Birmingham; an investigation is underway. Police are determining if foul play was involved.
Authorities are investigating after a human skull was discovered on Tuesday afternoon in East Birmingham.
The skull was found around 2 p.m. in the 1300 block of Fifth Place N.W. A homeowner discovered it on the side of the road near his house.
Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates said the homeowner’s dog likely moved the skull to that location, but where the skull originally came from is still unknown.
No other human remains were found in the area after a search.
The investigation is in its early stages, and it’s too early to determine if foul play was involved.
The Birmingham Police Department is looking into the circumstances surrounding the death.
