Woman who fled San Jose crash scene found dead at home 2 days later

**(KRON) — A woman who reportedly left the scene of a crash in June was found deceased at her home two days later, according to the San Jose Police Department. SJPD officers were dispatched on June 15 to the 2100 block of Oakland Road following a report of a solo vehicle collision.**

Police reported that a gray 2012 Hyundai SUV had crashed into a tree in the center median. Witnesses saw the woman driving the SUV flee the scene.

Officers went to the address of the SUV's registered owner but were unable to find her. Two days later, on June 17, at approximately 9:51 p.m., SJPD officers responded to a call reporting a death at the same residence. The woman was discovered deceased inside her home by family members.

At that time, the police were investigating whether the crash had contributed to her death. On Monday, the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office informed the SJPD Traffic Investigation Unit that the crash was a significant factor in the woman's death. This incident marks San Jose’s 31st fatal crash and 31st traffic-related death of the year.

The victim’s identity will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office.
