Fatal Rollover Crash in Tuscaloosa County Claims Life of Bessemer Man, Injures Passenger

A tragic accident in Tuscaloosa County resulted in the death of a Bessemer man and injuries to his passenger. The Alabama State Troopers reported that 57-year-old Wayne A. Chastine was the victim of the fatal crash.

The incident occurred on Thursday at 2:21 p.m. on Alabama 216, approximately five miles east of Brookwood. Trooper Cpl. Reginal King stated that Chastine was driving a Toyota Corolla when it veered off the road, collided with a tree, and overturned.

Unfortunately, Chastine was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Charles D. Woods, 64, from Tuscaloosa, sustained injuries and was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for medical attention.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the troopers.
