Donald Trump Considering Attending Alabama vs. Georgia Football Game in Tuscaloosa
Donald Trump may attend the Alabama vs. Georgia football game in Tuscaloosa on Sept. 28, despite recent security concerns. Find out more about his potential visit.
Donald Trump is considering attending the Alabama vs. Georgia football game on Sept. 28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. This was shared by John Wahl, the chairman of the Alabama Republican Party.
There are concerns about whether Trump's plans will be affected by a recent attempted attack on him in Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh was arrested after the apparent assassination attempt.
“I know Trump was thinking about attending the Alabama-Georgia game. The Republican Party is very excited about this possibility,” said John Wahl. He also noted the special bond between Trump and the people of Alabama. However, Wahl added that he isn't directly involved in Trump's plans and isn't sure if the recent incident will change anything.
Trump previously attended two Alabama games while he was president, with the team winning one and losing one during his visits.
Neither Trump’s campaign nor Alabama’s athletics department could confirm his plans to attend. Tuscaloosa police also had no comment on his possible visit.
While Alabama is not a key battleground state, Georgia will be crucial in the 2024 election, where Trump is expected to face Vice President Kamala Harris. If Trump attends, it would be his second time at Bryant-Denny Stadium and the third time he has attended an Alabama game.
Trump previously appeared on the field for the national anthem during the 2018 College Football Playoff final in Atlanta. He also attended a game between Alabama and LSU in November 2019, sitting with former First Lady Melania Trump in a box at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
