Country Music Icon Billy Ray Cyrus Addresses Leaked Audio of Heated Exchange with Estranged Wife
This week, country music star Billy Ray Cyrus addressed the recent leak of a private conversation between him and his estranged wife, Firerose.
On Wednesday, Cyrus, 62, took to social media to respond to the audio clip where he is heard berating singer-songwriter Firerose. The couple is currently in the midst of a divorce after just seven months of marriage.
"Yes, I was at my wit’s end," Cyrus wrote on Instagram. "Every day, I started to realize something was wrong, even before I knew she was not who she claimed to be. I sensed something off long before discovering she was David Hodges' ex-wife and learning her true background."
Cyrus accused Firerose, 37, of trying to exploit his career and the Cyrus name for her own benefit.
The leaked audio captures a tense argument between Cyrus and Firerose regarding punctuality for an event.
“It’s 9:15, you idiot. I needed to leave two hours ago,” Cyrus is heard saying, according to PEOPLE.
“No, you didn’t. You can still leave and get there in time,” Firerose responded.
In the recording, Cyrus also calls Firerose a "selfish [expletive]," while she pleads with him to "please stop screaming at me."
Last month, Cyrus filed for an emergency temporary restraining order against Firerose. This legal move followed his earlier divorce filing, citing "extreme" abuse. Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, has also accused Cyrus of severe mistreatment.
