The Box Elder County Sheriff's Office reported that they received a call around 2 p.m. on Friday. The call came from a friend of the base jumper, who had not heard from him after his jump.
To help with the search, the sheriff's office reached out to nearby Weber County. Helicopters were sent to search the area.
After about two hours, a helicopter from the Utah Department of Safety found the base jumper. He was identified as Jonathan Bizilia, a 27-year-old from Alabama. His exact residence in Alabama was not immediately known.
Sadly, officials confirmed that Bizilia had crashed during his jump and had passed away. His body was located about 1 mile northwest of Willard Peak, an area described as extremely rugged.
