Kirby Smart Spills on His Low-Key Chick-fil-A Drive-Thru Strategy

Turns out, even championship-winning football coaches can’t resist a Chick-fil-A run. Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart recently admitted that sometimes, the craving for waffle fries and a chicken sandwich just can’t be ignored.

The only problem? Being Kirby Smart in Georgia means you’re rarely anonymous  even in a drive-thru line.

Speaking on ESPN’s Marty & McGee, Smart shared how he tries to dodge the inevitable recognition that comes with being one of the most famous faces in college football.

“I’ve tried hats, sunglasses… you name it,” he laughed. “Doesn’t matter. As soon as you pull up, someone’s like, ‘Hey Coach!’”

Smart joked that there’s no true disguise when you’re a public figure in your own backyard, especially in a state that lives and breathes football.

While Smart’s game-day sideline presence is all business, stories like this are a reminder that he’s just as human as the rest of us navigating the same drive-thru lines, hoping his order comes out hot, fresh, and without a side of small talk when he’s off the clock.

It’s a little slice of Southern life: a championship coach, a Chick-fil-A drive-thru, and the challenge of staying under the radar in your own home state.
