**Football:**

How did West Covina bounce back from their week-zero loss (49-6) to the established SGV power Bishop Amat?

Quite impressively.

The Bulldogs secured a 45-28 victory over Los Altos on Friday night.

West Covina's ground game was dominant, with 310 rushing yards. Zander Requena was a standout performer, carrying the ball 22 times for 140 yards and scoring on runs of 7, 15, and 2 yards. He also added a 1-yard touchdown reception from Chris Perez.

Isaac Villescas contributed with a 24-yard touchdown run and three receptions for 32 yards. Isaac Ruiz added 46 rushing yards on nine carries, including a 3-yard touchdown run.

Perez completed 10 of 16 passes for 81 yards and one touchdown. Freshman Vance Davis made three catches for 21 yards.

On defense, Isaiah Ruiz led the charge with 10 tackles and a sack. Angel Murillo recorded seven tackles, while Josiah Joseph had six tackles and a sack. Jaylen Long and Marciano Ramirez each intercepted a pass from Los Altos.

Isaiah Rodríguez-Arias made a 27-yard field goal and was perfect on all six of his extra-point attempts.

One area of focus for Coach Mike Maggiore and his staff will be reducing turnovers, as 21 of Los Altos' 28 points came from West Covina mistakes.

Next up: The Bulldogs will host El Rancho on Thursday night at 7 P.M. The Dons (1-1) are coming off a 42-20 victory over Bell Gardens in their week-one matchup.
