Honoring Heroes and Celebrating Success
The evening highlighted the dedication of volunteers who make the YMCA’s mission possible. The following individuals were recognized as volunteers of the year:

The John 21:17 Awards, which honor individuals who embody the Y’s core values, were presented to Steve Russell and Knox Argo. Additionally, each YMCA branch was commended for their outstanding fundraising efforts throughout the year.
A Historic Appointment
The YMCA of Greater Montgomery proudly announced Leslie Sanders as its new Board Chair, marking the first time a woman has held this position in the organization’s history. Mrs. Sanders’ leadership and commitment will drive the Y's mission forward.
Leslie Sanders currently serves as the Vice President of the Alabama Power Southern Division, overseeing external and community development activities across 19 counties in south-central Alabama, including Montgomery. With 37 years of experience at Alabama Power, Sanders has a distinguished career in business and community service.

“The funds raised during our annual campaign are critical,” stated Sim Sippial, Interim CEO and President of the YMCA of Greater Montgomery. “They enable us to address food insecurity, promote wellness, facilitate recreation, and foster learning. The Y serves as a vital resource for youth, families, adults, and seniors, providing a space to reconnect, reengage, and recover.”
The YMCA of Greater Montgomery extends its deepest gratitude to former Board Chairman General Edward Crowell for his leadership from 2022-2024 and to its generous donors, volunteers, and dedicated staff for making this year a resounding success. Together, they are building a stronger, healthier community for all.
