Will Alabama Football Release a Depth Chart? Kalen DeBoer's Approach Explained
Discover whether Alabama football will release a depth chart for the upcoming season under new head coach Kalen DeBoer. Learn about DeBoer's approach to depth charts and what to expect for the first game against Western Kentucky.
Alabama football fans are wondering if the team will release a depth chart for the upcoming season. In the past, depth charts were made public on the Monday before the first game, a tradition started by former coach Nick Saban. However, Saban stopped this practice in 2023, only releasing the depth chart on game day. Now, with Kalen DeBoer as the new head coach, many are curious about his plans.
DeBoer addressed this question in his final press conference before the first game week. He mentioned that while the team might release some depth chart information during the week, it will depend on the situation with their opponent. He noted that much of the depth chart is already known after Week 1, but there may still be some uncertainties.
DeBoer explained that about 90% of the depth chart is clear, but the remaining 10% could be a work in progress, with some positions still uncertain. This means there could be some "or" designations in different spots on the chart.
Alabama will start the 2024 season by playing against Western Kentucky on Saturday, August 31, at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
