Trump Shares Fake AI Images Claiming Taylor Swift Endorsement for President
Donald Trump posted doctored AI images on Truth Social, falsely alleging Taylor Swift’s endorsement for his presidential campaign. The pop star has yet to support any candidate for the 2024 election.
Donald Trump has stirred controversy by sharing a series of doctored AI images on his Truth Social account, falsely suggesting that Taylor Swift has endorsed him for president.
On Sunday night, Trump posted multiple screenshots of X (formerly Twitter) posts showcasing individuals in “Swifties for Trump” shirts. These images appear to be manipulated, with one screenshot featuring a satirical news article. The article humorously claims that the cancellation of Swift's Vienna concerts due to a disrupted terrorist plot drove her fans to support Trump.
Another image shows Swift altered to resemble Uncle Sam with the text: “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump.” Trump responded to the doctored images with the caption, “I accept!”
Swift’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comment from Variety. The singer has not yet endorsed any candidate for the 2024 election, though she supported Joe Biden in 2020 and criticized Trump’s response to the George Floyd protests in a tweet that year.
In a previous mention of Swift in Variety co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh’s book “Apprentice in Wonderland,” Trump described her as “beautiful” but “liberal,” speculating that she likely does not support him.
As the Democratic National Convention begins this week in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to accept the party’s nomination. The event will feature several celebrity hosts, including Mindy Kaling, Kerry Washington, Tony Goldwyn, and Ana Navarro, with more star-studded appearances anticipated.
