Trump calls for executing Liz Cheney by firing squad ‘with nine barrels shooting at her’
Former President Trump has stirred controversy by threatening former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney with execution, igniting fierce backlash as the presidential campaign heats up.
Just days before Election Day, Trump told right-wing media host Tucker Carlson that Cheney deserves death by firing squad. “Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with nine barrels shooting at her. Let’s see how she feels about it when the guns are trained on her face,” he said.
Cheney, who has endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris, responded strongly, asserting that Trump’s remarks illustrate his potential for authoritarian rule if he wins a second term. “This is how dictators destroy free nations,” she tweeted. “We cannot entrust our country and our freedom to a petty, vindictive, cruel, unstable man who wants to be a tyrant.”
In response, Trump’s campaign claimed that he was merely suggesting Cheney shouldn’t advocate for foreign wars while avoiding combat herself.
In recent weeks, Cheney has been actively campaigning against Trump, particularly urging conservative Republicans and GOP women to vote for Harris. She appeared alongside Harris at the Little White Schoolhouse in Ripon, Wisconsin, emphasizing her belief that voting against Trump is essential for the nation’s welfare.
Trump has labeled Cheney a hawkish Republican, blaming her for U.S. involvement in foreign conflicts, including Iraq and Afghanistan, and for risking wider global tensions with Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.
Once a rising star in Congress and the daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, Liz Cheney's break with Trump over the January 6 Capitol attack has sparked a prolonged feud with the GOP leader.
