The popular Hoover Mexican eatery will close to provide space for an Italian gelato and coffee establishment.
A Hoover favorite is bidding farewell after seven years of providing tacos, tequila, and many memories. Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila, a local favorite for those in need of tasty bites and positive energy, has declared that it will close at the end of the month.

In a touching Facebook post, the owners, Benard and Brianna Tamburello, who are also the couple behind Vecchia Pizzeria & Mercato, announced the news:
“Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila will serve its last taco on Sunday, August 31st. THANK YOU for 7 unforgettable years your love and support mean the world to us.”
A Bittersweet Farewell
For many in Hoover, Moss Rock wasn’t just a restaurant. Families would congregate there following soccer matches, friends would hang out over margaritas on balmy evenings, and innumerable festivities would take place around taco tables. The Tamburellos described the restaurant as a blessing in their lives one that was only possible because of the community that supported them.
What’s Next for Space?
While the farewell is bittersweet, the space won’t stay quiet for long. Come October, the restaurant will be transformed into an Italian gelateria and café, offering a completely different but equally cozy experience. Guests can look forward to creamy gelato, rich espresso, and the kind of café culture that invites you to slow down and savor life’s simple pleasures.
An Upcoming Chapter
The Tamburellos made it clear that closing Moss Rock marked the beginning of something new rather than its demise. "It was a blessing," they said, reflecting on the memories created and looking forward to the future.
For Hoover residents, it’s the end of an era and the beginning of another — one that swaps tacos and tequila for cappuccinos and cones of pistachio gelato.
