Stanford Unveils Rare Uniform Combination For Week 1 Game Against TCU
This weekend feels like Christmas for college football fans as the long offseason finally comes to an end, and teams across the country take the field for the first time this season.
Stanford, making its debut in the ACC, will kick off its season against Big 12 opponent TCU. The two teams have faced each other only three times before, and both have plenty of questions heading into this matchup.
In a nod to tradition with a modern twist, Stanford will be debuting a new look for this season. As announced on social media, the Cardinal will swap their usual white helmets and pants for a red ensemble. This new combination—red helmet, red jersey, and red pants—was previewed in clips from EA Sports College Football 25.
Brian Brownfield, the program’s director of communications, confirmed that this will be the first time Stanford has worn red pants and a red jersey since 2011. It's only the third time in program history they've sported this look, with previous instances occurring against Cal (1989 & 1993) and Notre Dame (2011).
According to ESPN, TCU is favored by 8 points and has a 57.4% chance of winning. Stanford aims to defy the odds and make a statement with an upset victory.
