Highly Touted Junior DB Switches Commitment from Alabama to UCF
Jamarrion Gordon, a standout junior defensive back from Jackson, has announced via social media that he is switching his college commitment from Alabama to UCF.
The 6-foot, 190-pound athlete initially committed to Alabama in May but has decided to join UCF's program instead. According to the 247 composite rankings, Gordon is the 10th-ranked junior in the state.
This week, Gordon is visiting Orlando with three of his Jackson teammates: wide receiver Keeyun “Red” Champman (already committed to UCF), quarterback Landon Duckworth (a former South Carolina commit), and running back EJ Crowell, as mentioned by Jackson coach Cody Flournoy.
“Central Florida has been aggressively recruiting all our players,” Flournoy said. “They are eager to get all of them.”
Nationally, Gordon is ranked as the 20th safety in his class and the 217th overall prospect.
“He has an exceptional ability to recover quickly,” Flournoy commented on Gordon in May. “Even if he makes a mistake, he can correct it with his speed. His footwork and hands are top-notch. I’ve coached in various places, and he is not just a small-town, 4A level player. He could excel in any program.”
As a sophomore at Jackson, Gordon recorded 30 tackles, including two for loss. Primarily playing cornerback for the Aggies, he has shown versatility across the defensive backfield.
In addition to his defensive skills, Gordon also contributes as a receiver and kick returner for the Aggies. He comes from a family of talented athletes, including his brother, South Alabama wide receiver Jamaal Pritchett, and his cousin, former Auburn defensive back and current Seattle Seahawk Nehemiah Pritchett.
