Auto supplier ILJIN is building a $100 million plant in Auburn, Alabama, creating 160 jobs. The new facility will focus on aluminum forging to support automakers across the U.S.
ILJIN, an auto parts supplier, is investing $100 million to build a new facility in Auburn, Alabama. This plant will create around 160 jobs.
ILJIN, known for making control arms, stabilizer links, and ball joints for automakers, is now expanding into aluminum forging. The new plant will focus on producing aluminum control arms for U.S. customers. After production, the raw aluminum parts will be sent to ILJIN’s facility in Greer, South Carolina, for final processing.
The new operation will be housed in an existing building within Auburn Technology Park North.
ILJIN Chairman DS Lee shared that the company has seen great success by operating in the Southeast region of the U.S. “Alabama has been one of our best locations for growth and competitiveness,” Lee said.
The Auburn plant will help ILJIN increase the amount of U.S.-made parts for its North American market. John Dix, president of ILJIN USA, added, “With our advanced technology and in-house forging, we can provide high-quality aluminum parts at a lower cost.”
Alabama Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair highlighted ILJIN’s long history in the state, mentioning that the company opened its first U.S. wheel bearing facility 15 years ago in Phenix City. She said this new investment is another example of how Alabama supports manufacturing success.
