Moody Dominates Northside to Advance in AHSAA Flag Football Playoffs
Top-ranked Moody made a thunderous statement in the AHSAA Class 1A/5A flag football playoffs on Tuesday, rolling past No. 3 Northside with a commanding 41–12 victory in the quarterfinal round.
At the center of it all was Serenity Rutledge, the sophomore sensation who played like she had her own personal highlight reel on repeat. Rutledge delivered a performance that bordered on electric: she threw two touchdowns, ran in another, and snagged two interceptions, one of which she zipped back for a score, leaving the crowd buzzing.
With that all-around brilliance, the Blue Devils (19–3) punched their ticket to next week’s semifinals, where they’ll face the winner of Thursday’s John Carroll vs. Boaz matchup.
Moody coach Wren Moore didn’t hold back his admiration for his young star, praising both her athleticism and her poise.
“She is an incredible athlete,” Moore said, clearly proud of his quarterback’s growing legend. “Our defense set the tone early, and we were able to keep it rolling.”
It wasn’t just a win, it was a statement. Moody looked composed, confident, and hungry for more, proving why they’ve held the No. 1 spot all season. With the semifinals on the horizon, the Blue Devils appear ready to chase the championship with the same ferocity they showed on Tuesday night.
