Local Students Natalie Handel and Elle Antognoli Appointed to San Mateo County’s Youth Commission for 2024/2025

Subject: Appointments to the Youth Commission  

**RECOMMENDATION:**  

I recommend the appointment of twenty-four (24) youth members to the Youth Commission, each for a one-year term ending June 30, 2025.

**BACKGROUND:**  

Established in 1993, the Youth Commission was created to address issues impacting youth in San Mateo County and to serve as an advisory body to the Board of Supervisors. The Commission aims to bridge the gap between adult and youth perspectives, raise awareness of youth issues, advocate on behalf of youth, offer policy recommendations, and lead community-serving projects.

The Board of Supervisors is tasked with appointing new members to the Youth Commission. Members are appointed for one-year terms and may serve up to four terms or until they reach the age of twenty-one (21).

**DISCUSSION:**  

Following interviews with applicants, County staff recommend the following youth for appointment to the Youth Commission for a one-year term, ending June 30, 2025:
