In Baldwin County, an ambulance collides on an emergency run, sending four people to the hospital.

When a pickup truck slammed an ambulance on an emergency run in south Alabama Tuesday afternoon, a high-stakes situation turned dangerous, sending four people to the hospital and posing new concerns about driver awareness around emergency vehicles.

In Baldwin County, an ambulance collides on an emergency run, sending four people to the hospital.

The collision occurred in Loxley, a sleepy Baldwin County community located close to the I-10 flyover and off the bustling section of Highway 59, an area known for its heavy traffic and sporadic mayhem. When the collision happened, the Medstar ambulance was actively responding to an emergency, according to Fox10 News.

An Act of Violent Interrupting Urgency Marshal Thomas,

an eyewitness, told reporters he saw the crash happen live. Thomas claims that in a brief second of impact, a Dodge dually truck seemed to strike the ambulance at an intersection, stopping the emergency response in the middle of its mission.

"It was simply startling," Thomas remarked. "Sirens were blaring. There were flashing lights. Then—bam. Exactly like that.

Later, local authorities verified that the patient already inside the ambulance, the driver of the Dodge pickup, and both ambulance crew members were taken to a nearby hospital. Although the severity of their wounds has not been made public, all of them were apparently aware when they arrived at the site.

A Warning About the Dangers of Driving

Although there are many risks that first responders must deal with in the course of their work, occurrences such as these highlight the dangers they confront both on the site and while traveling. Although emergency vehicles are trained to move quickly and safely through traffic, they depend on other drivers to remain vigilant and yield when necessary.

No charges or citations have been issued as of yet; the collision is still being investigated.

The community is wishing for a full and quick recovery for everyone involved, but as of right now, no updates have been provided regarding the condition of those in the hospital.
