Harris vs. Trump latest presidential poll: Who is winning now? Gap is closing

The gap between the candidates is narrowing as the November 5 presidential election approaches, according to a recent poll.

 

The Morning Consult poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump by 4 percentage points, at 50% to 46%, a decrease from a 6-point lead in the previous update. Harris maintains a slight edge among independent likely voters, with 46% supporting her compared to 42% for Trump, bolstered by strong backing from Democrats and former Biden supporters.

 

Among Democrats, 94% are backing Harris, while 92% of Republicans support Trump. Independents are divided, with 46% for Harris, 42% for Trump, and 12% undecided.

 

Nationally, FiveThirtyEight.com reports an average of all national polls showing Harris up by 2.4 percentage points, at 48.6% to 46.1%.

 

In terms of favorability, the Morning Consult poll indicates that 53% have a favorable view of Harris, while 45% view her unfavorably. Trump’s numbers are the opposite, with 53% holding an unfavorable view compared to 45% who see him favorably. Additionally, 48% have a favorable opinion of Harris' running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, while 38% view him unfavorably. Ohio Senator JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, has a 41% approval rating and a 47% disapproval rating.
