Failed Trump Assassination Plot: Ryan Routh Offers $150,000 Reward for Completion
A man named Ryan Wesley Routh admitted in a note that he attempted to assassinate Donald Trump and offered $150,000 to anyone who could complete the job. This article provides details of the failed plot and his arrest in Florida.
A man named Ryan Routh, 58, planned to kill Donald Trump at a Florida golf course. He left behind a note admitting to the plot and even offered $150,000 to anyone willing to “complete the job.”
Routh was set to appear in federal court, and prosecutors shared the note as part of their argument to keep him in jail. In his note, Routh seemed to expect his plan would fail.
“Dear World, this was an attempt to assassinate Donald Trump. I’m so sorry I failed,” Routh wrote. “I gave it everything I had. It’s up to you now, and I will offer $150,000 to whoever can finish the job.”
Routh has been charged with two federal gun crimes, but more charges are expected.
According to court documents, Secret Service agents found Routh hiding in the bushes on the sixth hole of Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach on September 15. At the time, Trump was playing the fifth hole. When one of the agents saw Routh’s rifle move, he fired his weapon.
Routh fled before he could fire any shots, but he was caught soon after. Police found a list of dates and locations where Trump would be in the coming months in his car.
The note was found in a box that Routh had dropped off at someone’s house months earlier. The person didn’t open it until after Routh’s arrest. Inside the box, they found ammunition, building materials, phones, and various letters.
Police also discovered six phones in Routh’s car. On one of them, he had searched for the fastest route from Palm Beach County to Mexico.
