Country Star Jelly Roll to Perform in Birmingham, Alabama
Jelly Roll, a standout artist from this year's Rock the South festival, is set to return to Alabama for a fall performance in Birmingham. The country sensation will take the stage at the Legacy Arena at the BJCC on November 21 as part of his "The Beautifully Broken Tour." The tour will also feature opening acts Ernest, Shaboozey, and Allie Colleen.
Tickets for the Birmingham concert will be available starting Friday, August 2, at 10 a.m. CT through Ticketmaster. Prices range from $39.50 to $159.50, plus service charges, according to promoter Live Nation. Pre-sales will be held from Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT until Thursday at 10 p.m. CT, as listed on Ticketmaster.
Jelly Roll, born Jason DeFord, has planned over 50 tour dates, beginning August 27 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, and concluding on November 23 at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
The 39-year-old Nashville native has a long history of performances in Alabama, including a recent headlining gig at the Rock the South festival in Cullman on July 18. He also made a notable appearance at the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores, performing "Sweet Home Alabama" alongside Lana Del Rey.
Jelly Roll's discography includes nine solo albums and several collaborations from 2012 to the present. Initially blending country with rap and Southern rock, his style has evolved to a more traditional country sound in recent years.
He gained significant recognition with his 2020 album "A Beautiful Disaster" and further acclaim with "Ballads of the Broken" in 2021, which featured the No. 1 country single "Son of a Sinner." His 2023 album "Whitsitt Chapel" is considered a major breakthrough, earning him a CMA Award for New Artist of the Year.
Singles from "Whitsitt Chapel," such as "Need a Favor," "Halfway to Hell," and "Save Me" (featuring Lainey Wilson), have charted on Billboard. His collaboration with Wilson won an ACM Award for Music Event of the Year, and he also received three major CMT Music Awards for "Need a Favor."
Jelly Roll expanded his reach by serving as a mentor on Season 22 of ABC's "American Idol," providing guidance to contestants, including three from Alabama: Triston Harper, Mia Matthews, and KBlocks.
Most recently, Jelly Roll teamed up with Machine Gun Kelly for the single "Lonely Road," which premiered on YouTube on July 25. The music video, directed by Sam Cahill, features KellyRoll (as the duo is called), MGK's girlfriend Megan Fox, and Jelly Roll's wife Bunnie Xo, paying homage to John Denver's iconic 1971 hit "Take Me Home, Country Roads."
