Hollis R. Towns, the Vice President of Content and Editor-in-Chief at Alabama Media Group (AMG), has announced his decision to step down from his role.

In an email to staff on Wednesday, Towns expressed gratitude for his time at AMG, stating, "I was proud to serve as your editor and am forever grateful for the people I met here and the impact you had on me. Keep innovating and leading the way. I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines."

Towns revealed that he is leaving the position to explore new professional opportunities.

Towns' Tenure at AMG

Towns was appointed as editor in February 2024 and officially joined the company in March 2024. Prior to his role at AMG, he had an extensive career in journalism, serving as Gannett’s Vice President for Local News and Regional Editor, where he oversaw 160 daily newspapers and digital news platforms across the U.S.

A native of Fort Valley, Georgia, Towns has been a significant figure in the media landscape, bringing leadership and innovation to every newsroom he has worked with.
