19-year-old San Jose man killed in crash on US-101

KRON ) — A 19-year-old San Jose man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on US-101 early Sunday morning, California Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened just after 3:31 a.m. on US-101, just south of San Antonio Street. The driver of a Mercedes lost control while going southbound on the highway, and it crashed on the right-hand shoulder.

A 19-year-old San Jose man was driving the car, and two other 19-year-old San Jose residents were passengers. The man in the backseat was not wearing a seatbelt. He was ejected from the car and died.

The driver was arrested, and CHP says the crash is believed to be caused by driving under the influence of alcohol. CHP identified him as just “Z. Stacy.”

One lane of the freeway was closed from 3:50 a.m. until 8:11 a.m.
