Two More Alabama Alumni Make the Cut in 'The Top 100 NFL Players of 2024'
On Thursday, two additional former Alabama All-Americans were recognized in the "The Top 100 NFL Players of 2024." Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II secured the No. 52 spot, while Washington Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen came in at No. 54.
The NFL Network continued its 14th annual countdown of the league’s top players, revealing the rankings from No. 51 to No. 60 on Thursday.
Surtain and Allen join four other Crimson Tide alumni already featured in the list: Miami Dolphins wide receiver Jaylen Waddle at No. 63, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper at No. 70, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick at No. 79, and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith at No. 90.
Both Surtain and Allen have made previous appearances on "The Top 100 NFL Players" lists. Allen was ranked No. 88 in 2022 and No. 52 in 2023, while Surtain was placed at No. 49 in 2023.
Allen, now in his seventh NFL season, recorded impressive stats in 2023: 53 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, 19 quarterback hits, and one pass defended. Surtain, in his third season, achieved 69 tackles, one interception, and 12 passes defended.
The countdown of "The Top 100 NFL Players of 2024" will proceed with the next set of rankings released at 11 a.m. CDT over the next four weekdays on NFL+. The top 10 players will be unveiled on August 2 at 7 p.m. on NFL Network.
