RFK Jr.’s Whale Head Incident: Daughter Kick Reveals Unusual Story

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. once made headlines for an unusual incident where he sawed off the head of a dead, beached whale and drove with it on the roof of his car, according to his daughter, Kick Kennedy.

This bizarre event took place years before RFK Jr., a known supporter of Donald Trump and former presidential hopeful, staged another strange act involving a dead bear cub in Central Park. The whale head story resurfaced as online investigators dug into Kick Kennedy's past, possibly trying to learn more about her relationship with actor Ben Affleck.

In a December 2012 interview with Town & Country, Kick Kennedy shared that when she was 6 years old, a dead whale washed up on the shore at Squaw Island in Hyannis Port. Her father, fascinated by animal skulls and skeletons, heard about it and decided to collect the whale's head. Armed with a chainsaw, he cut off the whale's head and strapped it to the roof of the family minivan with bungee cords.

The whale's head remained on the roof during their five-hour drive from Cape Cod to Mount Kisco, New York. Kick recalled, "Every time we sped up on the highway, whale juice would pour into the car, and it was the worst smell ever." To cope with the stench, the family wore plastic bags over their heads with holes cut out for breathing, while other drivers on the road reacted with shock and disgust.

This wasn’t the only time RFK Jr. showed an interest in unusual things. Earlier this month, he mentioned to reporters in Albany that he had a "freezer full of roadkill," according to news sources.

On Monday, an environmental group, the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund, requested a federal investigation into the whale incident, as reported by news outlets. This came just after RFK Jr. suspended his presidential campaign and announced his endorsement of Trump.
