Fox News Host Sandra Smith reported Tuesday evening that Vice President Kamala Harris is significantly trailing the performance President Joe Biden achieved in Georgia with black male voters during the 2020 election.
Smith pointed out that former President Donald Trump had gained notable support from both black and Hispanic voters in pre-election polling, largely driven by factors like the economy and immigration policies. She highlighted exit poll data from Georgia, which showed that Trump had made substantial inroads among black male voters.
Fox News host Sandra Smith highlighted a notable gap in Vice President Kamala Harris's support among black voters in Georgia compared to President Joe Biden’s performance in the 2020 election.
“The black vote was huge for Biden when he won Georgia by a narrow margin in 2020,” Smith explained. “Now, let’s look at how they’re turning out this time around. This is the first opportunity we have to break it down among black voters, and while Harris’s support is still strong, she’s trailing Biden’s numbers from four years ago. In 2020, Biden had around 91% of the black vote in Georgia, and right now, Harris is running about 8 points behind that.”
Smith then turned her focus to black male voters, a key demographic that both parties have been courting aggressively. “Both candidates have spent a lot of time trying to win over black male voters, with Democrats making their case on economic issues, while Trump has been reaching out to this group as well,” she noted. “Inflation is over 20% in Georgia, which plays a big role in shaping opinions. As it stands, Harris is currently polling at 73% among black men, while Trump stands at 25%. For context, in 2020, Biden had about 87% of black male support in Georgia. So, right now, Harris is trailing Biden by around 13 points with this group.”
