Alabama football is ranked No. 5 in the 2024 preseason AP Top 25 poll. Learn about the Crimson Tide's upcoming season, key matchups, and new head coach Kalen DeBoer.
As the 2024 college football season approaches, the much-anticipated preseason AP Top 25 rankings have been released, placing Alabama football in the No. 5 spot. This ranking aligns with the coaches' poll released a week earlier, where the Crimson Tide also held the No. 5 position. Notably, Alabama did not receive any first-place votes in either poll, reflecting a shift in the national perspective on the team.
The Crimson Tide finished the 2023 season ranked No. 5 in the AP poll, and they remain one of the most formidable teams in the nation. Alabama is among nine SEC teams featured in the preseason top 25, underscoring the conference's dominance in college football. This season, Alabama’s schedule includes matchups against several ranked SEC rivals, including No. 1 Georgia, No. 11 Missouri, No. 13 LSU, No. 15 Tennessee, and No. 16 Oklahoma.
In a new era for Alabama football, Coach Kalen DeBoer takes the helm following the retirement of Nick Saban in January. Saban’s 17-season tenure in Tuscaloosa was marked by six national championships, solidifying his legacy as one of college football's greatest coaches.
The Crimson Tide completed their first preseason scrimmage last Saturday, with another one scheduled for next weekend. The team will kick off the 2024 season on August 31st against Western Kentucky.
