Spartans Start Season 2-0 After Win Saturday
FULLERTON, Calif.—Blaire Fleming delivered a standout performance with a .513 hitting percentage and a career-high 25 kills, leading the San José State volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton on Saturday afternoon at the Fullerton Invitational. This win brings the Spartans to a perfect 2-0 start for the season.
Fleming's impressive stats included 25 kills on 39 attempts with only five hitting errors. She also contributed five digs, four block assists, and two service aces. Brooke Bryant and Brooke Slusser each added nine kills to the effort. Bryant maintained a .280 hitting percentage with just two errors, while Slusser achieved her nine kills on 14 attempts without any errors. Slusser also recorded 40 kills and seven digs in the match.
Nayeli Ti’a provided additional support with eight kills and four blocks. Randilyn Reeves led the team defensively with 14 digs. Emma Testi excelled at the net with a team-leading eight blocks (two solo and six assists) and also added three kills, two aces, and two digs.
The Spartans outblocked the Titans significantly, 9-2. Additionally, six players made their debuts for San José State: Kiyana Faupula, Chandler Manusky, Katie O’Sullivan, Ava Martin, Naima Foster, and Jade Epps.
UP NEXT – The Spartans will compete at the Iowa Invitational next weekend in Coralville, Iowa. They will face host Iowa on Friday, Delaware on Saturday, and California Baptist on Sunday.
