Three people were injured in a shooting early Sunday in Birmingham’s Lakeview District.

The incident occurred at 3:27 a.m. in the 3000 block of Seventh Avenue South. Police cordoned off part of Seventh Avenue, where shell casings were found on the roadway and a white sedan was parked with its flashers on.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade reported that details surrounding the shooting are still unclear. The victims were transported to the hospital, but their injuries are not life-threatening.

As of now, no arrests have been made.

This shooting follows a tragic incident two weeks earlier, where four people were killed and 17 others injured outside Hush Lounge in the Five Points South entertainment district.

The Lakeview District has a history of gun violence. In December 2023, a man was fatally shot and another was injured in the 700 block of 29th Street shortly before 3 a.m. On-duty officers working nearby alerted dispatchers about the gunfire, leading to charges against two individuals in that case.

Earlier in May 2023, multiple people were shot in a bar parking lot on Seventh Avenue South, prompting an off-duty Birmingham police officer to respond after being informed of the situation.
