Vice President Kamala Harris expressed concern on Wednesday about the politicization of Hurricane Milton, just days after criticizing Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for not returning her call.
During a conversation with CNN’s Dana Bash, Harris accused Republican leaders of spreading misinformation that makes "desperate" Floridians afraid to seek assistance. She urged an end to political "gamesmanship," emphasizing that this manipulation only worsens the situation for those in need.
“It is dangerous and unconscionable for anyone claiming to be a leader to mislead desperate people, preventing them from receiving the aid they are entitled to,” Harris said. “We need to put an end to the politics, especially in times of crisis.”
She added, “I’ve met individuals who lost family members to Hurricane Helene, and I understand the fear and desperation faced by those evacuating Florida. The last thing they need is a so-called leader instilling more fear in them.”
