Vending Machines Dispense Ammunition at Two Alabama Grocery Stores: How They Work
[TheChronicle.cc] –Two grocery stores in Alabama now feature automated vending machines that dispense ammunition.
American Rounds has introduced these automated ammunition dispensers, which use artificial intelligence to verify a buyer’s identity and age through card scanning and facial recognition software.
To purchase ammunition, the buyer inserts their photo ID, and the machine performs a 360-degree scan to match it with the ID card.
These machines are currently available at Fresh Value locations in Tuscaloosa, located at 4200 McFarland Blvd., and Pell City, at 1009 Martin St. The company plans to expand to additional locations in Alabama, according to CEO Grant Magers.
Magers mentioned that the Pell City store approached the company about installing one of the machines, seeing it as a “good opportunity for their customer base.”
Terry Stanley, COO of Fresh Value, highlighted in a promotional video that the kiosk has been very popular with customers.
“Anything we can do to help them make their shopping trips easier, based on the feedback we’ve gotten from customers today, they are so excited about us having this ammo kiosk,” Stanley said.
Tuscaloosa Police Chief Brent Blankley told The Tuscaloosa Thread that the machines are legal and approved by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
