Former President Donald Trump’s chances of winning the Electoral College in the upcoming November election have strengthened, buoyed by a recent poll showing him leading in Michigan.
A model from J.L. Partners indicates Trump has a 58.8% likelihood of securing the Electoral College, compared to Vice President Kamala Harris at 41.1%. This shift follows a poll from Michigan News Source and MIRS that shows Trump gaining traction in the state. Earlier polling from The New York Times and Siena College had suggested a tight race in Michigan, a crucial battleground.
“Things continue to move against Harris—Trump’s win probability has increased by another two points since last week, widening the gap to nearly 18 points,” said Callum Hunter, a data scientist at J.L. Partners, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“The shift in Michigan is significant and represents a major setback for the Harris campaign. However, new polls this week could potentially adjust this favorable trend for Trump,” Hunter added.
