Tragic Drowning Claims Lives of Two Alabama Brothers at Logan Martin Lake

In a heart-wrenching incident on Sunday, two brothers from Childersburg, Alabama, tragically drowned while swimming at Logan Martin Lake. The Talladega County Coroner’s Office identified the victims as 21-year-old Joshua Covington and 19-year-old Kevin Covington.
The incident occurred near the lake's dam around 4:30 p.m., according to Deputy Coroner Josh Vincent. The brothers had swum to a floating dock and were making their way back to the pavilion when disaster struck. One of the brothers began struggling in the water, calling out for help. In a desperate attempt to assist, the other brother also became overwhelmed, and both were submerged.
Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene and managed to pull Kevin Covington from the water. Despite their efforts, including CPR, he was pronounced dead after being transported to Citizens Baptist Medical Center.
The search for Joshua Covington continued with divers scouring the area. His body was recovered shortly before 7 p.m., and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist the Covington family with funeral expenses.
