Small Earthquake Hits Northeast Alabama; No Damage Reported

A small earthquake shook northeast Alabama late Friday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The earthquake occurred at 11:35 p.m. and was located about two and a half miles below the surface. The center of the quake was just north-northeast of the town of Section in Jackson County, and roughly 6.7 miles south-southeast of Scottsboro.
The USGS reported the earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 2.3. Most earthquakes with a magnitude below 2.5 are usually not felt by people.
Fortunately, there were no reports of damage from this earthquake.
