Fox News Host Criticized for Controversial Comment About Kamala Harris
Fox News host Jesse Watters faces criticism after comments about Kamala Harris in the Situation Room. He clarifies his remarks amid backlash.
Fox News host Jesse Watters is facing backlash after a controversial comment he made about Vice President Kamala Harris. Watters suggested that if Harris were president, she wouldn’t be taken seriously in the White House Situation Room, claiming that the military generals would "have their way with her."
During Monday's episode of “The Five,” Watters discussed the 2021 U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and questioned Harris’s ability to handle the role of president. He said, “We don’t know who she is. We don’t know what she believes. She’s going to get paralyzed in the Situation Room while the generals have their way with her.”
Kerstin Emhoff, the ex-wife of Douglas Emhoff, who is the second gentleman, quickly defended Harris, writing on social media, "There are many things to worry about, but Kamala being manhandled in the Situation Room is not one of them."
Watters's remark drew immediate criticism from his co-host Jeanine Pirro, who said, "Jesse, I don’t like that. Take it back." Watters then clarified, "Figuratively, again. Have their way with her! Control her. Not in a sexual way."
Following widespread criticism, Watters tried to explain his comment the next day, stating, "There’s been some attention to comments I made on the show yesterday about VP Harris. People are misconstruing my comments to mean something inappropriate. I wasn’t suggesting anything of a sexual nature. I was expressing my opinion that VP Harris’s current leadership style could be an issue if elected."
He emphasized that his comments were not intended to suggest anything beyond his views on Harris's leadership.
