Betting Sites Show Surprising Odds for Kamala Harris vs. Donald Trump in 2024 Election

A recent update from a betting site has shown some surprising results for the 2024 presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Polymarket, a popular betting platform, currently gives former President Donald Trump a 50% chance of winning against Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming November 5 election. On the same platform, Harris has a 49% chance of winning, according to data available as of Tuesday afternoon.

This is a change from earlier this month when Polymarket had Harris slightly ahead of Trump in the race for the White House. Currently, Polymarket shows Harris with a 73% chance of winning the popular vote, while Trump's chances stand at 26%.

However, other betting sites still show Harris leading. The PredictIt platform, for example, gives Harris a 55% chance of winning, represented by a “yes” price of 55 cents. Trump is currently priced at 47 cents on the same site.

The Election Betting Odds platform shows Harris at 50.3% and Trump at 48%, with both candidates showing slight increases over the past week—Trump up by 0.5% and Harris by 0.1%. This same site previously showed Trump leading President Joe Biden by 30 points in July, though Biden has since exited the race. The Election Betting Odds platform gathers data from multiple betting websites.

Betting on the U.S. presidential election isn't limited to American platforms. The UK-based Smarkets site gives Harris a 50% chance of winning, with Trump at 48.54%.

According to the New York Times Presidential Tracker, Harris is leading Trump by four or more percentage points in seven out of the last eight polls. In one poll, Trump leads by a single percentage point, as reported by news sources.

These odds indicate a tight race, with different platforms offering varied predictions on the possible outcome.
