Stolen Gambling Machines from Alabama Investigation Discovered in Jefferson County Bingo Hall
Gambling machines seized in an Alabama state investigation were found at a Jefferson County bingo hall. Discover how these machines, marked as evidence, were stolen and ended up in an unexpected location.
Gambling machines that were seized in Selma, Alabama, by the state attorney general’s office as part of an illegal gambling investigation have been stolen and later found in the back room of a Jefferson County bingo hall. The machines were easily identified by the stickers marking them as evidence.
A spokesperson for Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall confirmed that the machines, which were taken during raids on illegal gambling activities in Selma, were discovered on Monday night at J’s Charity Bingo in Lipscomb by agents from the attorney general's office.
The spokesperson did not clarify whether there is any connection between J’s Charity Bingo and Selma Charity Bingo, where the machines were originally seized, or if any arrests or charges have been made related to the discovery of the machines at the Lipscomb bingo hall.
Last week, the attorney general’s office announced that it had obtained temporary restraining orders against Selma Charity Bingo and four other locations in Selma accused of conducting illegal gambling: Joker 777, Mini Bingo, Selma Bingo, and Lucky Duck.
These restraining orders require all operations at these facilities to stop immediately, with no further financial transactions allowed until the Circuit Court of Dallas County issues further orders.
Despite these facilities being locked down, authorities in Selma observed machines being removed from Selma Charity Bingo. How these machines ended up in Jefferson County remains unclear.
