In the final stretch of her 2024 campaign for the White House, the vice president has been attacking Trump with labels like “fascist” and “petty tyrant.”
Initially, the Harris campaign focused on a message of “joy,” but as polls reveal a tight race, the vice president and her team have shifted tactics. They now portray Trump as a significant threat to the nation, warning that he would abuse power if he were to win another term.
The shift in strategy began when Harris addressed comments from former Trump chief of staff John Kelly during a speech from her residence. In interviews with The New York Times and The Atlantic, Kelly claimed that Trump had made troubling remarks about Hitler and expressed a desire for a fascist-like rule.
Harris echoed these sentiments, stating, “It is clear from John Kelly’s words that Donald Trump is someone who, I quote, ‘certainly falls into the general definition of fascist.’ He vowed to be a dictator on day one and to use the military as his personal militia for his vendettas.” She emphasized that these statements reveal Trump’s true nature.
