A decade ago this month, Stephen Nodine was released from jail after completing a two-year sentence for felony perjury, as well as misdemeanor harassment and ethics violations.

 

The outcome could have been far worse. In 2010, a jury in Baldwin County was unable to reach a verdict on murder and stalking charges against Nodine—who was a former Mobile County Commissioner—stemming from a fatal incident involving his then-girlfriend, Angel Downs, outside her home in Gulf Shores.
