Republican Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas confronted NBC host Kristen Welker during "Meet the Press" regarding FEMA's inadequate response to Hurricane Helene.
Over the past two fiscal years, FEMA has allocated more than $1 billion for a migrant assistance program. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas stated on Wednesday that the agency lacks sufficient funds to navigate the storm season. Welker described FEMA’s expenditures on migrants as “misinformation,” leading Cotton to challenge her assertion.
