Former Alabama Mayor Faces 11 Child Pornography Charges

Paul Calhoun, the ex-mayor of Lake View, has been arrested on 11 charges related to child pornography, according to state court records.

Calhoun, who served as mayor of the Tuscaloosa County town from 2016 until his resignation in 2020 amid ethics charges, is accused of producing and attempting to produce pornography with a minor, as well as possessing pornographic material.

Attempts to reach Calhoun's attorney and the Tuscaloosa County assistant district attorney handling the case for comment were unsuccessful.

The charges, filed in Tuscaloosa County District Court, identify the defendant as 53-year-old Paul Anthony Calhoun, a resident of Lake View. Multiple media outlets have confirmed that the defendant is the former mayor of Lake View.

The case originated from a search warrant executed on July 2, which uncovered 10 images of child pornography on Calhoun's laptop, as detailed in the charging documents.
