**Menlo Park Launches Free Mulch and Compost Program**

Menlo Park is introducing a new program to provide city residents with free compost and mulch for their gardens and yards. Mulch and compost can be picked up from self-serve piles at Bedwell Bayfront Park, located at 1600 Marsh Road. No appointments are required. The self-serve piles are located just inside the front gate, near the park entrance. Residents should bring their own shovels, gloves, and containers. The limit is 64 gallons of compost per resident per week.

Assistant Public Works Director Brian Henry mentioned that if the program proves popular, it may be expanded to additional sites and dates. The first piles were set out on August 9, with replenishments occurring every other week through November. The next replenishment dates are August 23 and September 6. For additional compost needs, residents can visit Recology’s Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos, where up to two 50-pound bags of compost can be collected each week.
